How to Play Tonk

Each player is dealt 5 cards. If your hand totals 49 or 50 points (face cards = 10, number cards = face value, Aces = 1), you have a tonk and declare it immediately to win double. Otherwise play begins. On your turn, draw from the deck or take the top discard, then discard a card. You may lay down spreads (melds of three or more matching cards). You may also hit an existing spread by adding a matching card. If your hand has no unmelded cards after a discard, you go out and win. You may also drop to end the game — the lowest point total wins, but dropping when an opponent has a lower hand results in a double loss.
