Two to four players each control four tokens that begin at their colored home base and must race around the board to reach the center finish area. Tokens advance based on dice rolls, but the game’s real excitement comes from capture: landing on a square occupied by an opponent’s token sends it back to the start, erasing potentially dozens of moves of progress. Deciding which token to move when multiple options exist creates constant tactical decisions beneath the luck of the dice.
How to Play Ludo
Each player’s four tokens start at their colored home base. Tokens must first leave the base by rolling a 6, then travel clockwise around the outer track before entering their colored home column and reaching the center. On each turn, roll one die and move one token the rolled number of spaces. Landing on an opponent’s token captures it and returns it to their base (tokens on starred safe squares cannot be captured). Rolling a 6 grants an extra turn. The first player to move all four tokens to the center wins.
