How Discord Hearts Works

Passing Phase

Every hand starts with passing 3 cards to another player. The direction rotates each hand:

  • Hand 1: Pass left
  • Hand 2: Pass right
  • Hand 3: Pass across
  • Hand 4: No pass (hold)

Use voice chat to your advantage — listen for groans when someone receives your passed cards. It tells you a lot about their hand.

Trick Play

Standard Hearts rules apply:

  • 2 of Clubs leads the first trick
  • Follow suit if you can
  • Don’t play Hearts until they’ve been “broken”
  • Avoid taking Hearts (1 point each) and the Queen of Spades (13 points)

Shooting the Moon

If you take all 13 Hearts and the Queen of Spades, you Shoot the Moon — every other player gets 26 points instead of you. On Discord, the live voice reactions when someone pulls this off are unbeatable.

Scoring

Lowest score wins. Game ends when any player reaches 100 points. The full Hearts scoring system is handled automatically.
