You can play chess directly inside Discord — no separate website, no download, no account creation. The game runs as a Discord Activity inside your voice channel, so you and your opponent can play while chatting.

Setup (One Time)

Add the Bot

A server admin needs to add the Rare Pike bot once:

  1. Visit the Rare Pike Bot page
  2. Click “Add to Discord”
  3. Select your server and authorize

That’s it. Every member of the server can now launch chess (and 20+ other games) from any voice channel.

How to Start a Chess Game

  1. Join a voice channel in your Discord server (you don’t need your microphone on)
  2. Click the Activities icon — the rocket ship (🚀) in the voice channel toolbar
  3. Search for “Chess” or browse the game list
  4. Click to launch — the chess board opens inside Discord
  5. Your opponent joins from the same voice channel

The game starts immediately. White moves first, both players take turns, and all standard chess rules apply — castling, en passant, pawn promotion, check, checkmate, stalemate.
