How to Play Card Games on Discord
Play Hearts, Spades, Poker, Euchre, and 20+ other games directly inside Discord — no download, no browser tab, no leaving your voice chat.
You can play 20+ card games and board games directly inside Discord — no browser tab, no separate app, no leaving your voice chat. Games run as Discord Activities, embedded right in your voice channel where everyone can join with one click.
Discord Activities are embedded apps that run inside voice channels. Instead of sharing a screen or switching to a browser, everyone in the voice channel can jump into the same game instantly. It’s the easiest way to play card games with friends who are already on Discord.
How to Start a Game on Discord
Step 1: Add the Rare Pike Bot
A server admin needs to add the Rare Pike bot to your Discord server. This takes about 30 seconds:
- Go to the Rare Pike Bot page
- Click “Add to Discord”
- Select your server from the dropdown
- Authorize the bot
You only need to do this once per server. After that, any member can launch games.

Games run inside voice channels. You don’t need your mic on — just join any voice channel in your server.
Step 3: Launch a Game
- Click the Activities icon (the rocket ship 🚀) in the voice channel toolbar
- Browse the available games or search by name
- Click the game you want to play
- The game opens as an Activity inside Discord
Step 4: Play
Everyone in the voice channel can join the game. No accounts to create, no links to share, no setup. Just play.

Why Play on Discord Instead of a Website?
Everyone’s Already There
If your friend group uses Discord, there’s no friction. No “go to this URL” or “create an account on this site.” You’re already in a voice channel together — just launch the game.
Voice Chat Built In
Playing card games with live voice is vastly better than text chat or silence. Trash talk during Poker, coordinating strategy in Bridge, or discussing the hand in Spades — the voice channel makes it all seamless.
No Tab Switching
The game runs inside Discord. You don’t need to alt-tab between a browser and your chat. Everything — the game, the voice, the text chat — is in one window.
Mobile-Friendly
Discord Activities work on mobile, which means you can play Hearts or Chess from your phone while on a voice call with friends. No mobile app to download separately.
Tips for the Best Experience
For Server Admins
- Create a games voice channel — A dedicated channel keeps game players separate from others in voice
- Set up game roles — Use Discord roles like
@CardPlayersto ping interested members when starting a game - Post game schedules — Weekly game nights build consistent engagement
For Players
- Use voice — Even if you’re shy, games are more fun with voice chat
- Start with games everyone knows — Hearts and Poker are near-universal
- Try new games — With 20+ options, don’t get stuck on one game forever
- Invite friends — The more the merrier, especially for games like Bingo and Ludo
