How to Play Bridge
Each player is dealt 13 cards from a standard 52-card deck. The auction determines the trump suit and the number of tricks (out of 13) the declaring side has contracted to win. The player who first named the final suit becomes the declarer; their partner (dummy) lays cards face up after the opening lead. Declarer plays both their own hand and dummy. Defenders try to defeat the contract. Points are scored for making or defeating contracts, with bonuses for game, slam, and vulnerable contracts.
